About Us

Nomusa, our founder, is not only a Mental Health and AOD Nurse Practitioner but also a beacon of resilience and cultural insight. Hailing from Zimbabwe, she possesses a profound understanding of the unique challenges faced by African women living in Australia, especially when it comes to mental health, intergenerational trauma, domestic violence, grief & loss and raising children in the diaspora.

Nomusa's journey as a single parent raising three boys has been a deeply personal and often difficult path. Navigating mental health systems for her own family, she has faced the same struggles many African women encounter in a foreign land. Her personal experiences have fueled her passion and commitment to helping others.

Through countless hours spent on the phone, offering support to women in similar situations, Nomusa recognised a critical need within the community. These interactions illuminated the gaps in existing services and underscored the importance of creating a dedicated support group. Her vision is rooted in the desire to empower African women, providing them with a safe space where they can connect, share, and find the support they need to thrive in a challenging environment.
